April 04/05/2026:  The Ultimate Turnaround: When the Blues Met the Resurrection

The lily lifts its cup of white,

a silent prayer in morning light;

the stone is rolled, the tomb is bare,

and hope awakens on the air.

From painted eggs and nests of spring

to choirs that rise on angels’ wing,

this day when death itself was past—

new life blooms fast, and love holds fast.

There’s a moment in every good blues song where the weight of the world is on your shoulders. The guitar cries. The organ moans. You’ve been down so long that down don’t even feel scary anymore.

That was Saturday.

But brothers and sisters, if you’ve been listening to the old spirituals, you know that Sunday is coming.

At DzGospelBluesClub, we talk a lot about the “minor chord” of life—the struggle, the heartbreak, the midnight hour. But we don’t stay there. We can’t. Because three days after the world went dark, the stone rolled away.

### Friday’s Sorrow, Sunday’s Shout

Imagine the disciples on that Saturday morning. They had lost their Leader. Their Friend. Their hope. If that ain’t the blues, I don’t know what is. They were singing a song with no turnaround—no resolution. Just a flat fifth and a whole lot of silence.

But then came the Resurrection.

Jesus didn’t just wake up. He *overthrew*. He took the sting of death—that old devil’s bass line—and turned it into a key change so loud it shook the Roman guards off their feet.

### Why the Resurrection is the "Root Note" of Our Faith

In the blues, you can wander all over the fretboard, but you’ve always got to come back to the root. That note holds everything together.

For the Gospel Blues believer, the Resurrection is that root note.

- **Without the Resurrection,** the cross is just a sad ending. (Just another man dying in the rain.)

- **Without the Resurrection,** prayer is just talk. (Just shouting into the wind.)

- **Without the Resurrection,** the Blues would just be noise without hope.

But because He got up, we know our labor is not in vain. Because He got up, we know that death isn't the final verse—it’s just the bridge to glory.

### Testify: The Empty Tomb Changes the Tune

When Mary Magdalene ran from that tomb that Sunday morning, she wasn’t walking a slow 12-bar walk anymore. She was running a fast 2-step of glory!

She went from “They have taken my Lord” to “I have seen the Lord!”

That’s the testimony we carry in this club. We know the pain of Good Friday. We’ve cried those tears. But we serve a Man who walked out of His own grave.

### A Prayer for the Road

If you are feeling like you’re stuck in Saturday—like the tomb is sealed and the lights are out—let the Resurrection preach to you today.

Jesus specializes in **impossible turnarounds**.

He is the **Stone Roller**.

He is the **Morning Star**.

Remember, He is the *** WayMaker ***.

So turn up the volume. Let the Hammond B3 swell. Let the steel guitar cry tears of joy. Because He is risen.

**He is risen indeed.**

*Now clap your hands, stomp your feet, and go tell somebody that the grave couldn’t hold Him.*
