Heaven, The Wholly Holy Place
No velvet rope divides the jeweled street,
no favored pew, no nation at God’s feet—
the emperor’s robe and beggar’s tatter meet
on equal ground, where every tribe was made
to shine unlabeled, unafraid.
No creed outranks a whispered, honest prayer,
no party’s flag can claim a foothold there;
the Baptist and the Buddhist, side by side,
have washed their borders in the living tide.
For wealth is just the weight love casts away,
and culture melts to morning in that day—
one wholly holy hush, one seamless song,
where difference always knew it was a wrong,
and every soul at last becomes a home,
with none to wander and no need to roam.
